We all have flaws. It’s pathologically impossible not to have flaws. But we all have qualities. And everyone reminds us of our qualities. No one ever reminds us of our flaws. Because it isn’t polite to tell people their flaws. But, once in a while, there’s someone that is brave enough, or stupid enough, or naïve enough to tell us what’s wrong with us. We are familiar with our flaws, we know they’re there and when that person comes up to us and tells us all of our flaws, we feel broken, because we realize that the worst things we think about ourselves are noticeable, and everyone knows them. And they use them as reasons to get as far from us as possible. But, as a very good friend of mine would put it, we’re made of steel, we’ll get over it. But if the person that we trust the most, the person that we love the most comes up to us and tells us all of our flaws, and uses them as ways and reasons not to be with us, then no, we won’t get over it. We won’t get over it because when someone compliments us we believe in it for a moment, but when someone trashes us, we believe in it forever. We are not aware of how good and beautiful we are, we are aware of how bad and ugly we are. That’s why when you tell a girl she’s beautiful she believes in it for a second, but when you tell her she’s not worthy, she believes in it forever.
